For those builders that have installed an emergency locator transmitter
(ELT), what is the preferred location for the radio and the antenna? I
have purchased an Ameri-King AK-450 which has a quaterwave coil-loaded
mono pole antenna. This antenna will require a ground plane of some
sort. The installation manual states that only their antenna should be
used. Having to construct a 4ft diameter ground plane is not too
attractive. Is this my only option? Thanks in advance.
