Jim

I got my wings out of storage and opened the boxes to check the skin
stiffener. Now I see what you are talking about. On Bob's plane, we did not
have that stiffener.

Both wing skin seem to be made so they will fit just fine on the ribs.

Thanks for asking me to check.

Hi All,

There have been several reports of the port side wing closeout panel for the
XS wing having the spen-wise stiffener in the wrong place such that it
dosen't match the recesses in the rib flanges. Although the problem has now
been eliminated at manufacture, we are concerned that there may be several
of you who have yet to discover this problem on your wing. Even if you are
not ready to fit the panel in question, please check the fit of the
stiffener relative to the wing ribs and let us know as soon as possible if
you are affected so that we can organise a batch of replacements, if
necessary.

Kevin.

There appears to be a whole series of port wing skins that have
manufacturing problems. The problem is the stiffening strip that should
line up
with the jog you see in the inboard ribs. It doesn't! Jim Thursby said he
was
going to get something in the newsletter about it, as he needs to know how
many
there are and who got the bad ones. Apparently there are a lot of them
built
this way. Obviously they will all have to be replaced. And soon!
