Even if it weren't metal, in the event of a fault, the 5A fuse should
pop before enough heat is generated to self-combust. I understand that's
one reason consumer electronics devices in our homes are not fire hazards at

117VAC on a 20A line, if fused or otherwise protected internally per industry
standards.
