Thomas in Germany enquired about further information on Skyforce's new colour
mapper. Sorry for the delay in responding.
Skyforce do have a web page on www.indus.co.uk/skyforce which may be worth
checking out. Apparantly there is a active demo but whether it has been updated
with the latest product I am not sure.
Without is sounding too much like a free ad the features and benefits claimed
are:
Ultra high definition TFT colour LCD display (lovely)
Front loading PCMIA Datacards which will contain Jeppesen databases, geographic
features and the operating system (makes for easy machine upgrades)
Joystick controlled screen pointer (a doddle for offline route planning)
Screen customisation which allows normal landscape or portrait format (nice if
you are squeezed for space or want to set up the screen display to suit your
own tastes)
Triple parallel processing, Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring, WAAS and
differential ready receiver. (basically lots of bells and whistles to make
certain it doesn't start telling you garbage especially one day when GPS
approaches become possible)
Input and Output options for all industry standard protocols to allow autopilot
and EFIS interfacing. (it works with many other bits of avionic hardware)
Bracketed comments my "translations" into user speak.
All this in a box 6.25" wide x 4" high x 6.9" deep. Also watch out in the press
for the next product announcement due shortly.
