Gidday from downunder. Thats Australia for any uneducated! I have 3 main
points I'd like to air in this my first message.. The first is to highlight
that new members to this forum are probably new builders, and as such there
is every likelihood that we are working hard to setup ways within our
software to store our e-mail so that when we get to the applicable stage of
construction we do not lose the valuable hints and tips of you, the
experienced and advanced builders. As such I would like to request a basic
protocol of introducing the topic in such a manner that a recipient can
understand what aspect of construction it refers, even a chapter or manual
page reference. I have read several e-mail messages and have not had a
clue what their content was about! This is through no lack of knowledge to
aircraft terminology as I know a little bit about them. If you buy a
tailkit, that is the manual you get, although I am going to attempt to
address that. I have a sneeking suspicion that I will not get a manual
beyond the kit stage that I am at, however it makes it hard to
crossreference your e-mail. Your help will be appreciated by more than just
myself, if you the more experienced builders, consider this applicable.
The second point is to request a dialogue about problems found and solved in
the construction of the first stage, the tail kit. Any tips, or more
importantly solutions to these problems will be invaluable. I know this
might seem fairly basic to some, but we newcomers will be there to the end
with or without help, but with the help would be the preferred option. We'll
buy you a schooner of Fosters in the future at a flyin you can be sure!
My third point is to request guidance about the modifications or inclusions
required to achieve an IFR standard upon completion i.e. how do I plumb the
wings and fin for nav lights, landing lights and strobes. Is there a bigger
panel on the drawing board? Will the factory supply helpful hints in this
regard, as I haven't bothered writing and having to wait 2 weeks for an
airmail reply? And you thought the world was getting smaller! Does the
factory have and e-mail system of addressing builders queries? If so can
someone give me an address. A phonecall to the factory in the appropriate
hours means, when your 150degrees of latitude displaced, it is the early
hours of the morning and costs a bomb!
P.S. I'd like to thank Peter Thomas for the effort involved in setting up
this excellent forum. In the same vein can someone in contact with
avnet.co.uk tell them that we really appreciate their involvement in our
Europa project dialogue.
Gidday
Tony Renshaw (Builder No. 236 tail kit, but not for long !)
