Come on now , how much ? for those of us near bankrupty from building.
and how's about a digital readout version ?
A transverse float gauge (with insensitivity to pitch) can be added without
hacking holes in the tank if you are prepared to stand off the filler hose
with a fabricated section. This section carries a support for the axis of the
float gauge itself which is a wire arm at right angles to it (with a 35mm can
on the end of course). What you do with the rotation is entirely your
choice , (except that you cannot rotate a vane type condenser inside, as it
doubles its capacitance when the tank entry pipe fills.) But most wirewound
pots don't mind petrol even if unsealed. I have tried bringing the 1/8"
shaft out through an O-ring seal, and find friction is easily overcome by
the "Archimedes" in the tank. Though you then have to attach the filler hose
to a side arm, we epoxy moulders know how to do that sort of thing, don't we
?
The options are then wide. e.g. a combined visible and electrical gauge
using a light source projecting via a mirror on the shaft, to a scale.
The top of the fuselage would have no viewing problems !
