Have been following discussion on Teflon sleeves for aileron hinges, but it's
too late for me since they're done. My question then regards the sanity of
just adding a third hinge (say, 4" or 10 cm long) mid-way between inboard and
outboard hinges.
I notice that with aileron installed on wing, a little (pinky) finger
pressure at the mid-point (leading edge) of the aileron flexes it nicely.
Nothing unsafe, I would assume, but maybe this flexibility, under load and
vibration, is causing the hinges to quickly wear as reported?
Comments would be appreciated.
