On the BBC lunchtime news today (Mon 2nd) I spotted G-YURO lurking over the
shoulder of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) spokesman. He was
reacting to Gordon Brown's announcements about how UK plc should prepare
for monetary union (even though we haven't decided whether we shall join at
all).
G-YURO looked considerably shinier than when I last saw it, a little
bedraggled, in retirement at Elvington. Certainly soemone had spent a lot
of time polishing off the stains of "raced & rallied daily" (Ivan's
description). Underneath appeared to be a big plinth that had something
like "Europa Aviation" (maybe they haven't changed the trade-show stand
image yet to Europa Aircraft Co?) written on it, so I guess the factory is
one of the cherished exhibits there, as everyone else in UK has given up
exporting because of the strong pound.
