I can offer some detail of the MT Constant Speed Propeller. The factory
recommended Type No.
MTV-7-F/157-106 But of course you will need to take their advice concerning
your engine Type ,Power,Direction of Rotation,Engine Flange dimensions,
etc. My engine is the Jabiru 3300 , and consideration of "moment of
inertia" had to be given to the drive shaft gyroscopic forces , since the
Jabiru engine runs at propeller speed my installation is infact on the end
of the crankshaft ! Initially the Factory provided the incorrect figures
which the Jabiru designers limited the combination to 'straight and level
flight' ! However when the 'chips were down ' the factory came up with the
correct figures so Jabiru were prepared to authorise "lazy loops and lazy
rolls" The factory will send you a questionaire which encompasses the
flight performances which you require the propeller to be biased . The
propeller is quite heavy at 32 lbs. so c of g consideration must be given.
The Europa Factory are trialling the same propeller and Andy Draper said
that the performance is AOK notwithstanding the fact that you must follow
correct sequences to avoid unintentional engine overspeed, he is apparently
considering writing some pilots notes on operations.
I also needed the MT people to send me their own spinner since the
propeller will not fit the small standard Jabiru spinner since it is as
small as the MKI Europa Spinner is hidiously large. The resultant
complication of all this is that I will have to put a "blister" on the top
of the Jabiru cowling to match the propeller spinner diameter.( anyone
needing a spare MKI Spinner and Cowling please call me up)
I will also probably need to modify the air intake ducts also.
The MT people will require prepayment , delivery is about 10 weeks and you
will have to pay delivery charges C.O.D.
THey are currently wrestling with a problem since they didn't loose fit the
drive bolts during propeller assembly and since they insist the bolts are
inserted from the front to, aft the spinner flange and two more spacer
flanges will need to be removed to get the bolts in, and since the
propeller work has to be undertaken by an authorised person I'm expecting a
German visitor soon!!!!.( never thought to ask Andy Draper if they had the
same problem?)
Don't hesitate to e-mail me should you need any more info.
The MT factory e-mail address is :- sales@mt-propeller.com Gerd
R.Muehlbaur is President and will handle the sales and specification
aspects of your enquiry then Eric Greindl will take over on production.
They are very helpful people but at their prices you certainly pay for it!!

How heavy ? indeed how heavy is the Arplast.? Having just done a baggage
mod.
I could use some forward shift, subject to AUW of course, hence the
interest.
