Carb Cables ??

The choke cable doesn't protrude enough to allow hookup to the choke. Bob
Berube agreed that this is a problem and said the solution is to cut a couple
inches off of the outer sheath to allow hookup. The swaged end is lost but
the fitting supplied with the carburetor works fine. Cutting was
straightforward using a carbide wheel on the Dremel, with the centers
retracted out of harm's way.

The throttle cables protrude enough so that they can be hooked up easily.
However, these cables are so long that they are difficult to dress neatly.
Curling the excess in a circle increases friction objectionably. The manual
wants the ends left on the throttle cables but it seems that things would be
much neater if one were to shorten the cables (as was done with the choke) and
use the end fittings supplied with the carb.

What have others done with the throttle cables? What is the downside to
cutting these cables?

Also, what is the preferred lubricant for these cables. I've used dry graphite
but wonder if something else would be preferrable?
