After reading my response to the debate, Martin Stoner was courteous enough
to phone me this morning and pointed out that anyone not knowing the facts
might construe that there was some implied criticism of his judgement.
This was not my intention in any shape or form. It would have been better
if I'd phoned Martin to check in the first place.
I've only had the pleasure of flying with Martin twice and I would say that
I cannot remember being so relaxed with any other pilot. It was as though
the aeroplane knew that it was in a very safe pair of hands and no way was
it going to step out of line.
Martin will be posting his response to the debate later today so I won't
pre empt him, except to say that I learnt something about ground handling
that I hadn't realised. Learn something every day.
