I have lost my fair share of hardener along the way, especially to exposure
to air. So I had a bright idea. I was watching CNN in some god-forsaken
place and they advertised "Spacemates", which are concertina polypropylene
containers that allow products to stay fresh. Well I thought, all my
hardener losing days are over. So I dutifully scoured the local supplier
and proudly brought downunder a box full of these containers for decanting.
Well I think, yet again, that I may have a problem, and if its anything
like all my other experiences it will mean another "bin-able" experience.
Have you ever tried to dispose of unwanted chemicals in the 1990s! Its
nearly impossible here. I should know, I have a cupboard full of the stuff.
The problem is that the container appears at the extremities of each
concertina to be sweating hardener. Now I don't mean much, but any is a
worry as I now wonder if the containers themselves may have compromised the
hardener. Now the plastic is probably thinnest at these sweating
extremities which may help to explain things.
My question is simply this.......
Do I do as I have done every other time I have been in doubt, and bin it,
or do I keep using it.
P.S. I should add that I had the best solution prior to this in that I had
decanted hardener into smallish glass preserving jars. Yes Glass is
probably the only safe option.
