Cheers:
A propos the discussion of the value of title devices, kindly note the
article in this month's Sport Aviation (journal of the EAA) entitled
"CARRIER PILOT'S SECRET" by James Frantz and David Trousdale.
There is a worthy display of the advantages which particularly accrue
to Europa drivers who may be required to approach and land (as well as
depart) minute fields - particularly those 'slippery` moments waiting to
set down......
As well, sveeral other advantages of knowing the details of how the
wing is doing - best l/d ratio attitudes, go-around decisions, final
approach manoeuvring attitudes, etc - are covered in general terms. Each
author has developed a device. I have opted for Frantz's simplest design
because it was so easy to instal in the foam wing, but both are
explained quite well.
Good reading.
Happy Landings,
