Metal treatment

Hello all,
I'm just getting started on the building and, in between drying sessions,
I would like to start cleaning/treating the metal parts.
If anyone has any recommendations as to the best way to remove rust on
the steel parts and then treat them so it doesn't happen again, I would
be most appreciative. I would also like to get suggestions as to the
proper and best way to treat the aluminum parts.
