I've been told that the standard Europa mod, which introduces a plenum
box for cold air to the carburettors, produces significantly more power
at
the crucial take-off phase of flight.
Would anyone who has performed these changes on their aircraft, care to
comment on the effectiveness of the mod. (say in percentage terms, or
feet
per minute, or extra climb RPM) . A before and after comparison would be
useful.
I'm particularly interested in how quickly the aircraft to can be made
to climb
to about 100 feet above the field in hot or high conditions at AUW
(1300lb).
A comparison with the effectiveness of, say a VP prop on the 912 would
also
be illuminating.
All Europa owners will know that this is one of the most _variable_
aspects
of aircraft performance, particularly when the aircraft is not "over
powered".
Sometimes, it can be so restrictive as to make short field operations
impractical.
I operate from around 750 metres of grass (partly uphill), and on hot
days at
high weight the take-off clearance margins are _not_ impressive.
