I suggest you pick up one of those free drill charts the tool companies give
away for free to hang up on the wall. Decimal sizes are given for all the
letter, number, fractional, and metric drill sizes. The proper sizes for
tapping threads are also called out. You will see that there are other sizes
that are so close to the metric size that its not worth the extra effort to
go to the metric. A full set of number drills is needed in a shop any way.
Though metric bits are easily available through any machine tool supply house.
