There are go-peds in USA, they are scooters with a small gas engine attached
to one of the wheels, they have a range of about 100 Km ( 60 miles ) at
speed of about 35-45 Km/hour (20-25 miles).

http://www.go-ped.com/Products/Liquimatic/liqui.htm .

This is one place I found, there are other places if you are interested.

Look how they are folded and you will see that are practical for those short
trips.

A friend of mine uses his scooter to go to the train, folds the scooter and
bag it to carry with him, arrives to the city opens the Bag, unfolds the
scooter to go to his office and etc, he has been doing this routine for
several years, he has one that has a foldable seat since he has to drive
about 5 miles at each stop.

He also uses it when he is flying, I understand that in some States , in
USA, licensing is required, the same happens in some of the countries he has
flown to.
