Following on from the latest Goldwing sitcom being enacted here, I would
like to add a few remarks.
Yes (shame!) I also succumbed to the promises of strobes, having placed a
deposit on the Sunday of last year's Rally. Need I bore you with the rest -
suffice it to say that the order is still incomplete.
I have already followed the path of reverse engineering. Being in the happy
position of having the tip boxes and strobe tubes I decided that the
warranty was probably not something to bank on, I took them to bits and have
spent some time working out what is missing in terms of the centrally
mounted electronics box.
I chose the three box system on the advice of our friends? to avoid the
necessity for high voltage wiring passing through the wings. Having had a
good look, it seems that the bit that is missing is the high voltage
(300-385v) generator plus the sync connection. So much for low voltage in
the wings!.
Having played around with the electronics, I have succeeded in drawing out
the tip box circuit, and have managed to design a (at the moment crude and
under development) means of making them WORK.
I would be happy to place whatever I have learned at the disposal of the
group. If any kind donor were to send me a central control unit which I can
pull to bits I am sure that we could arrive at a workable alternative.
