Many thanks for all the ideas we received on designing our plenum
chamber.
We are still cutting and shaping our prototype block of foam (which will be
the mould for the plenum chamber). We have now discarded the idea of using
the original conical filters and were
considering adopting the Europa K&N one till we discovered the price - 51
(plus VAT ). A visit to the local motor factors seems to have solved our
problem. A VW Golf 1600/ 1800 engine uses nearly the same size filter (8" x
4" x 1" ) and the price, a mere 5.50 (plus VAT). And to operate the
selector flap (warm or cold air) a lockable choke cable for @ 4.00. The
most expensive bit seems to be the glass cloth to make the box up with.
If we ever get it finished we'll let you know. In the meantime any other
suggestions are welcome.
