I always understood that the most sensitive thing to a powered pilot was
silence.!
However I guess if you are gliding then there is a stark contrast between
engine on and engine off,
I'm hoping that the Jabiru 3300 engine , when it takes to the air , will be
sufficiently quiet in the cruise to converse without headsets on , as
compared with a Rotax revving its "nuts off" . Come first week in September
and subject to eventual permit to fly we should have some news in these
respects.
However it's unlikely that most folks would abandon air to ground
communication.
At least it sounds like you are about to make one right decision!!!!.
