Just to reinforce your "stainless slides real nice," anyone tempted to use
aluminum hinges should not do so; aluminum galls when rubbed by just about
anything other than Teflon so an aluminum hinge with any commercially
available wire will be most unsatisfactory.

Subject: A hingeing decision
An inside piano "wire" hinge can easily be the most secure attachment for
cowlings.
The outside surface can be tooled to perfection w/o interference.
The fit of the joined surfaces is most exellent.
Always seems to look really good.
Thin, or thick w/ lightholes, stainless slides real nice.
