Terry,
I raised the issue some time ago when I found that my C of G was too rearward
to accept all weight configurations with the battery in the recommended
position under the luggage bay of the XS. Calculations illustrated that it
would be benificial to move it to the engine end.
I have a 912S with a standard fixed pitch prop. I would conjecture that the
preproduction XS was a heavier 914 Turbo with a Variable Pitch prop. That
would account for the manual's positioning
I have just moved the battery forward whilst Winter servicing, but I have not
check weighed it yet. Probably late Jan for that. Mean while it was good to
read Bob's report which confirms the we are on the right track.
