I thought they did a pretty good job, considering the competition
(save for Aviation Consumer, which has no advertisers). Glowing pilot
reports are worthless for someone choosing a homebuilt. And not that
the Europa is much of a problem, but I fault SA for never addressing
safety issues, such not even hinting that the Lancair IV is a death
trap if you don't keep the speed up and use lo-o-o-ng runways. Has
about the same wing area as the Europa, but 3200# gross!
Custom Planes is now into occasionally letting the manufacturer write
the article, making the author "Contributing Editor" for a month.
