As soon as you're downloading the weather on your portable laptop docked in
your panel (caution: Don't check your portfolio before or during flights),
why not run navigation, communication, instrumentation and control, music
and entertainment, and the coffee maker on it.
Redundancy can be maintained by many modern means.
Dual laptops would be the executive norm.
Big displays, any flavor (style) you prefer.
Common data format would be good (e.g. US geological survey ground map).
Open software sourcecode format would be best (e.g. Unix, Visual Basic, et
few).
Dual installed sensors (spend money here).
Software should be free from the FAA.
Log onto the grid and get a threat display with instant comm w/ anyone also
on the grid.
It's 'Tron' all over again.
I can hardly wait!
