I've noticed this too. If you accidently trigger one of the internal
alarms on the unit then it exhibits this behaviour.
I think it's a bit like a 'Service' light in the car.
When I spoke to Skydrive,I think I was told that the unit would need
to be returned.
... just don't exceed any of the limits !!!! (I wish !)

One of the most annoying features of the Flydat in our experience
is that is shows "SERVICE" for about 30 sec after starting the engine.
Just enough to ruin your engine, not being able to read important data
like the oil pressure during this period.
If somebody knows a method of resetting the Flydat without sending it to
Rotax (and pay a lot of money), then please let us know.
