            Actually, I had it in my mind it might have been you. BUT you
are quite correct I think. The only caveat might be that one should be (a)
in ground effect - at most 2 feet above ground, and (b) inside the
first quarter of the landing site. That seems to me to be the only time to
be 'behind the curve' unless you have plenty sky under you.
            It also proves a boon to have the smell of the wind in your
nostrils. A puff could put you six feet into the sky, just as you plan to
leave it.* Until that tailwheel is firmly stuck into the turf, you're well
and truly stalled (AND there's no 15kt gust just up the runway), you can
lock the stick into the seat for true directional authority.
            I found the article by Ed Kolano in Sport Av to be a refresher
for me and mine....and next month too.

'cough'.
