I don't think there are any particular problems. The Europa, and most of the
engine combinations have proved very reliable, but there is always the
unforeseen. During nearly six years of flying G-BVLV to many destinations I
have only encountered two problems away from home where I needed outside
help. The first was a minor ding, and involved a trailer rescue by a fellow
Europa pilot, and second was a puncture, where again assistance in the form
of parts and muscle was given by others.
I have also witnessed, and been able to help out with other pilots
misfortunes i.e. two wheels up landings, two punctures (both the same guy,
at different venues), two dinged props, cracked exhaust down pipe, a misfire
(plug), flat battery. All these problems were made so much easier due to the
help from other pilots and friends.
I don't think for one minuet anyone volunteering their services is going to
be bogged down by request's for help, and after all by volunteering you are
not committing to anything, no one would expect you to leave off your
wedding day to go delivering parts! If it isn't convenient you are under no
obligation, if you can help - great, if you can't, there's always another
way! The more volunteer's we have on the list, the more options open to
someone who needs help, and the less chance of your services being needed.
Its just nice to know that if the unexpected happens, and you can't sort it
yourself, there is a gang of people out there who may be able to help you.
