I think the best solution is to ignore *any* attachment from the forum
(trust the forum has deleted attachments) and as usual, don't trust any
requested attachments.
My general ruling for a requested attachment is that it be in a compressed
format (e.g. a zip file) so when I do open the attachment, all I get is the
winzip (or what ever zip program you're using) listing of the file. It
gives a second chance to check what the attachment is and is also good for
the internet (I remember when a 2.4KB modem was quick enough!!).
