I too, nipped the nosegear tube despite 2 hours of maximum cautious work at FlightCrafters. I tried stiff paper stock, talc powder, etc. I retreated to a tire shop also. They took 5 minutes! The technique was just partial inflation to keep the tube out of the way, and a nice jig to squeeze the wheel halves together despite the partial inflation. NB: I told them it was for a go-kart since "everybody" knows they will not work on aircraft components! Ira A224 |
