So my question to this is - Did Santos Dumont take to the air before or
after the Welsh aviator whom resided in Pembrokeshire, reported to of flew
his aircraft a few years before the Wright brothers (but don't have his
name?) He did not gain much recognition as he only made a few flights before
losing control and killing himself by colliding with a tree just after take
off.
There was some info on him in last years museum of wales 'Flight' exhibition
and on the "Wings over Wales" program on the Discovery Wings Channel.
And secondly why have the Wright brothers had so much recognition as the
"first"aviators, when clearly several individuals had preceded them in
attaining powered flight...
But there again do we re-write the history books to state Vladyimir Ilyushin
was the first cosmonaut to orbit the earth before Yuri Gagarin???
The truth is out there... Somewhere!!
cheers
