I had the same problem. It's down to quality control again. the wing root
plates were so proud in our port wing that we could not get the front socket
in, never mind with any support pad. The fix was to return the wing to the
subcontractor (can't remember their name) who very quickly removed the wing
root plates,  repositioned them and returned them to us - even on a bank
holiday, and at no expense. All very helpful but a bit irritating that it
was required in the first place.
