Do your checking on-line as most companies give a good rate via this media.
But phone the pickup point to make sure they know your coming. Also, give
yourself some time to wait as they sometimes cut it close. They think that if
they get it to you that day, they're doing good, all the while your thinking
9 am.
Don't forget a good lock for the rear door. Keeps you from worrying when you
stop and leave the truck for a bathroom break or to eat.
Familiarize yourself with some of the special driving restrictions for
trucks. Like speed limit and keeping in the right lane.
Ask around if you need to stop at the truck scales. Ever since 9/11
California has required rental trucks to stop at some of the entry point
scales.
Give yourself time and have fun.
