To the group,
Following up on the conversation of redundancy in the fuel system electrical,
I ran a test yesterday while chasing down a sneak circuit in my design. I
have a 7 amp hour battery as my #2 battery in the second electrical system. It
now has a questionable status, but I wanted to run in the emergency backup mode
-- simply the pump connected to the battery as I have it set up in the fall
back position.
The pump ran for 1 hour before I shut it down, satisfied that I shouldn't be
in the air for an hour in that condition (unless overwater). The pump was
putting out full pressure, even though the voltage had dropped during operation
to
about 8 volts. The test was totally satisfactory. When all else fails, I can
switch to this emergency mode and get the airplane on the ground.
Another data point!
