Sorry about the philosophical question.
I think I see where I went wrong (apart from the finger trouble just
now).
Flaps extension changes the lift versus angle properties of the wings
and requires a new calibration of lift coefficient versus measured angle
data (if lift coefficient is what one wants to indicate).
Stall approach warners are probably not affected though - fixed leading
edges should still stall at their characteristic angles, regardless of
flaps (but at a lower airspeed, with flaps).
