Ferg,
As usual, I have that in my aircraft. I made aluminum brackets
that I glassed to the top and mounted the inertial reel to it. Bob does
not have an inertial reel on his design. He does solve the angular issue
that Europa does not. Having a fixed belt causes you to leave the straps
loose while working around the cockpit. In doing so you might "forget"
to snug them up during take off and landing. Its one more thing to go
wrong in an emergency that can really hurt you. It's my opinion but I
reached a ripe old age of 60 and I intend to get alot older with out
breaking anything. If it goes beyond the capabilities of my installed
systems, it won't make any difference. The Europa is very strong as
demonstrated several times by our colleagues who have met misfortune.
Check the history.

this is the only major one)
