Below is a copy of Andy Draper's posting to the list with repect to this
topic on 29.11.02 in reply to Dave Anderson with his 914.

Starting from cold should be done with full choke and closed throttle.
After start, adjust the throttle (still with full choke) to give 2500rpm,
then after 20 - 30 seconds, close the choke quickly. The rpm will drop down
to about 2000 rpm, so adjust it back up to 2500 for warm up.
