If that's all, then a simple voltmeter will actually tell you more than
an ammeter. A fully-charged battery, fed by 14.0V from a constant-voltage
source at average temps, should not pull more than a fraction of an amp.
Can't even read that on a steam-gauge, 30-0-30 ammeter.
