| I clocked my best ever ground speed @ circa 182 knots (210mph) in steady descent over the English Channel 5000 ft about 3 years ago. When I levelled out it fell to around 162 knots, engine firewalled at 5700RPM. Guaranteed, and recorded on my GPS ! ..on that basis, I figure the tailwind component must have been IRO 30 knots. |
