I don't know about written tests, but I have been using Navbox Pro for some  
years now and have found it to be brilliant and of course it is updated over 
the  Web monthly.  

I would check though if you have a new computer with no Serial Ports, just  
USB.  My new computer cannot communicate with the Skymap despite using a  patch

converter USB/Serial.   It works with the Garmin 196 so I am at  a bit of a 
loss.
