| Hi Nigel, It sounds that you are put on a wrong track by a loose remark, intended to present something theoretical. Look again at the "possible" and "but". A real 24 V alternator would produce 48 volts and more at high rpms. These overkills are needed to give a good charge at low rpms. Thats why generators need regulators, and broken regulators can fry systems. My 10 cents: Don't start using an alternator out of spec. Regerds, Jos Okhuijsen |
