Thanks Duncan, an interesting document. McMurdo put out some info on
their web site at

I will, however, phone the Aeronautical rescue mission control centre in
Kinloss and check if the marine types are acceptable and post my
findings.

and in particular half way down page 5; 121.5 gets switched off in 3
years!
Not that it's very accurate anyway; a helicopter would get to within 2
miles, then spend half an hour finding you in that circle.
You'd need to check that the marine versions are compatible with the
specific requirements of the (UK) aeronautical types.
