Hi Alan,
Didn't know that one. It seems strange to me since during descent the
engine never delivers more than 75 % power, and cooling is better.
Besides, during circuit and landing the engine is at very low settings.
With our 914 powered MCR four seater we don't have to re-open the
cowling flaps during circuit.

The book says "a few minutes". Since during landing, rollout and taxi
the engine is at idle and rather cool I usually don't have to idle more
than one or two minutes before temperatures are stabilised for shut down.
Of course if you've just run up the engine at full throttle, you may
have to wait longer before shutting down.
