Paul, There is a strong possibility that there is a short circuit in the starter motor. This would drag the voltage down so low that the contactor releases. Once released the voltage will rise again and the contactor makes, only to release when the voltage drops. Hence the chattering. The starter could be checked with your ohm-meter although even a "good" starter will be of very low resistance. regards John Richardson G-BXGG Tri-gear (flying) |
