Europa-List: Mono Brake fittings

What has everyone used to seal the threads for the elbow fitting on the slave 
cylinder
on the mono.  My seal blew out the other day and I am rebuilding the cylinder.
What I did notice was that there was pitting on the piston, which I
am going to replace, and that it looked like it had not been sliding straight
up and down but with it cocked/not square to one side and sliding up and down
that way.
