I hope you will all feel that it is worth signing this petition, as Kemble
appears to be seriously threatened. International voices particularly
welcome

District Council have served an enforcement notice to try and stop general
aviation at Kemble Airfield - a site which has been an aerodrome for nigh on
70 years, and which enjoys the support of over 80% of the local community
(according to Kemble & Ewen Parish Council survey 2006). The council seem to
have been inspired to do this thanks to the complaints of a few vocal
individuals - so we need to show them the level of support the airfield has
locally, nationally and perhaps even internationally.
>
> Kemble is a considerate airfield, with strict noise abatement procedures
in place to ensure that the local residents are not too affected by the
airfield. It is also a fantastic uncultivated green space, with lots of
wildlife, trees, hedges etc. You can regularly see hares dashing around.
There are no plans to turn Kemble into an airport like Bristol or
Birmingham. The enforcement notice threatens many jobs and businesses on the
airfield - it seems bizarre that the local council would want to damage the
economy in it's own area. This isn't just about rich boys flying their
private planes - Kemble Airfield is a thriving community of people from all
walks of life, many of whom are involved in the aviation side of things
through a sheer passion for flying. For example, one business on the
airfield is not run for profit, but instead ploughs all it makes back into
the charity side of their business, to enable them to take disadvantaged and
disabled kids flying.
>
> This petition has not been started by the airfield management - this is a
genuine, independent plea from a lad who flies at Kemble to save 'his'
airfield. Please send this on to everyone you know who lives in the
Gloucestershire/Wiltshire area, as well as to friends and family nationwide.
You can find out more information about Kemble at www.kemble.com, or if you
live locally why not visit the airfield to see just how great it is - it's a
lovely way to spend a sunny Saturday.
>
> I hope that we will be able to save flying at Kemble, and protect this
valuable resource for the future.

> Best wishes
