Have you you considered the Avtek Idrovario,  it can be retrofitted
using hydraulics via the hollow gearbox output shaft, most Pioneer 300
have them fitted and reports are that it is very good especially in the
constant speed mode.

The control can be manual or the electronic constant speed unit.
