I should have reported back, i thought i did, but maybe somewhere else, anyhow:
The automatic reply, on the second attempt came, 5 days after the release of
the send button. The CAA should be in the Guinness book of records for having
the slowest computer ever. 
So, really, i was absolutely legal on my trip to and in the UK :-)
