Its a while now but our VOR is a copper tape dipole mounted horizontally in
the bottom of the rear fuselage - about 18" behind the rear baggage
bulkhead. Not sure of the dimensions but would guess a 1/4 or 1/2
wavelength.
We dont use the VOR a lot but it has always worked OK.
When you say it has not worked what do you mean ? Almost anything will work
but if its wrong then not very well - ie: poor range. I would guess there
could be a problem with the coax - is it the correct grade - also is there a
carbon toroid (ring) or several at the dipole end ?
My Physics is a bit rusty but i am sure there are those that would know the
formula for aerial length. v = f X wavelength (I think) though im not
sure what v should equal ?
Hope that helps.
