Dear Ivan,
Being the builder of the PH-DIY (XS Tri-gear) I have always wondered
about the design of the outer flap hinges.
It is my impression that the "double" hinge construction of the outer
flap hinges is a left over of the mono wheel design where these flap
hinges have to support the out riggers. For the tri gear it looks like
this construction has been left "as is" (but without the outriggers of
course) to avoid recertification issues.
If my impression, that the load on the outer flap hinge is not different
than the load on the inner of middle flap hinge, is incorrect, I would
love to hear more about this. Reason is that I want to understand the
design of my beloved Europa aircraft.
