Europa-List: NPT fittings on fuel flow sensor

I have just been fitting flow and return EI FP5  fuel sensors using brass NPT 
hose
fittings but they leak, should I use PFTE tape (which is not recommended in
case threads of PTFE affect the sensor or block the flow, or maybe compound)
